It is important for me to hold on file the contact details for the young client, I am required to help keep the client safe and be able to contact all relevant adults who are involved with the client. Data held would include – contact details for all parents / guardians, contact for GP, contact for social workers/social carers, client’s school.

Sometimes things may emerge during the therapy which I think would be useful to share with other adults in the child’s life. If it becomes necessary to talk to anyone else, the therapist and young client will discuss this first, we will talk about all the things that are likely to happen when we do and what will be said. A “Sharing Information” form will be jointly completed and signed by therapist and young client, I will ask the client to sign this form giving me permission to talk to other people about them. If the young child refuses to share the information, then this will be respected and not done, but if the issue is deemed a safeguarding concern, then the form can be used without signature and agreement to keep the young person or child safe.
